One Room Challenge: Week 8 - The Final Reveal!
The final reveal of the One Room Challenge - Spring 2021! I transformed my son Aaron’s nursery into a big kid room as he prepares to start Kindergarten in the fall. I knew there would be a lot of emotions to work through as I tore down the room Joe and I lovingly curated for our very first baby… but Aaron’s pride in his new “big boy room” has made it worth every tear. We brightened up the walls, added DIY board and batten in a deep green, and more.
One Room Challenge: Week 7 - Finishing Touches
I’ve been working on adding finishing touches to Aaron’s room for the One Room Challenge - art, styling the dressers, etc. Sharing my favorite way to display my kid’s artwork and I’ll be creating some art over the next few days, as well as finally priming and repainting the back of Aaron’s door.
One Room Challenge: Week 6 - Lighting
It’s week 6 of the One Room Challenge and I’m focusing on lighting. I truly believe one of the most overlooked and under valued aspect of interior decorating is lighting. It’s easy to buy a small, cheap lamp from Target and call it a day, but choosing light fixtures that “have an opinion” will give you a much higher end look… and it doesn’t have to be expensive. Here’s how I DIY’d a $5 thrifted lamp using baking soda and paint.
One Room Challenge: Week 5 - Transforming the Loft Bed
It’s week 5 of the One Room Challenge, and we’re finishing the loft bed! I used a paint sprayer for the first time, touched up blemishes for a week, and got it all assembled. We painted the bed to match the board and batten - Ripe Olive by Sherwin Williams.
One Room Challenge: Week 4 - Board and Batten
We’re half way through the One Room Challenge and these 4 weeks have flown by! This was the week where I had my “what have I done?” moment. Inevitably, when one room is being painted the rest of the house somehow stops functioning as well as it usually does. There are pieces of the new bed in our laundry room, paint cans and tools on our kitchen counters, and twice as many toys as usual in Chloe’s room - all without a home. I knew it was time to finish the board and batten project this week because I need to be able to start putting Aaron’s room back together for my own sanity!
One Room Challenge: Week 3 - Tips for Painting White Walls
It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge and I’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks I’ve learned this time around about painting white walls!
One Room Challenge: Week 2 - The Plan
Here’s the mood board I created for the One Room Challenge, along with rooms I was inspired by and a few things I learned my first time using a paint sprayer. Follow along for weekly updates on this little boy’s room!
One Room Challenge: Week 1 - The Befores
I’m so excited to be a guest participant in the One Room Challenge for the first time! I will be making over my son Aaron’s room over the course of the next 8 weeks, which has been something on my “to do” list for months. This week, we’re setting the scene and going over the pain points I’m hoping to fix in his room.
